Discover Coorg

Coffee, waterfalls and the source of a river

A few things that make Kodagu worth the journey.

Explore the towns
  • A cluster of ripening red and green coffee cherries on a branch in Coorg

    Coffee country

Kodagu is one of India's main coffee-growing regions. Much of its coffee grows in the shade of tall forest trees, and many homestays sit on working estates.

  • Abbey Falls near Madikeri, pouring over dark rock into a pool below forested slopes

    Waterfalls and viewpoints

Abbey Falls near Madikeri and Iruppu Falls in the south are among the best known, along with viewpoints such as Raja's Seat and Mandalpatti. Waterfalls run fullest during and after the monsoon.

  • Kodava food

Kodava cooking is a tradition of its own: pandi curry, kadambuttu rice dumplings and akki otti flatbreads, often sharpened with kachampuli, a dark fruit vinegar.

  • Tall, vine-wrapped trees in a sunlit Coorg forest

    The Kaveri and its forests

The Kaveri rises at Talakaveri in Kodagu's Brahmagiri hills, and the district's forests are part of the wider Western Ghats.

These notes are general. Check access, timings and seasonal conditions locally before you travel.

Whoโ€™s behind this

Hospitality, organised locally

Coorg Hotels & Resorts brings together tourism businesses that belong to a local association, so travellers can find stays run by people who live and work in Kodagu.

Businesses apply for membership online, and the association reviews each application. Until the first members are verified, this site lists no stays at all, rather than showing anything unchecked.

  1. Membership

A tourism business joins the association and is verified as a member.

  2. Property review

Each property the member wants to list is reviewed before it appears.

  3. Listing

Only then does it show up here, with details supplied by the member.
